Music Distribution Process & How Long Before Content is Live

Our Process

Once submitted your release is queued for packing. Once done packing we review the releases in the order they are submitted. We approve releases on a daily basis from Monday through Friday. Each release is carefully reviewed, inspected, and screened to ensure that it is proper for distribution into the partners that we deliver to. We generally approve all releases within 24-48 business hours, not including holidays or weekends, and then it can take up to 24 hours to batch and deliver. Once delivered it can take up to 10 days for the individual DSP to process the content, which is out of our control.

Submitting Early

We recommend for all record labels and artists to deliver their releases with 3-4 weeks of lead time. The reason for this is because some retailer or streaming providers may have server related issues and/or problems that we cannot control to which may impact your release date. In addition, in the case of iTunes, they typically require a product to be delivered at least 14 full business days (not including weekends and holidays) prior to the release date and often times your product may not show live until 14 full business days (not including weekends and holidays) has passed.

(In case you are more of a visual person, we've also prepared this video!)

In the event that your release was submitted with 14 full business days (not including weekends and holidays) and it is still not live, please feel free to create a ticket and we'll inspect the matter.

Lastly, the most important reason as to why it is important for you to ensure you send in a release with 3-4+ weeks advance of your release date is to ensure that your product is recognized and marketed by the retailer and streaming provider.

Every provider has a different way of reviewing products on their website and they will not feature your product just because you think its entitled to be featured. We have to work hard at pitching your release and iTunes, Beatport, and many others will sift through potentially THOUSANDS of featured requests per day. If you want to stand out and increase the chances of your product not only making it live on your scheduled release date but further potentially getting a featured release, please ensure you submit it 3-4 weeks prior to a release date. It is in the best interest of your product, record label, and/or artist and is a policy not created by us, but by retailers and streaming providers who enforce the same policy to major record labels and artists.

I didn't submit early, what happens now?

Your release has been sent out and is being delivered. It will go live in DSP's as soon as they receive it, process it, and put it up on their platform. Unfortunately, each partner's platform works on their own schedules and the earliest process/live date will not be the same for each partner. DSP guidelines can be up to 10 days to process content which is out of our control. Your release instead will become live randomly in stores at different times within that 18 day period. That is why we cannot guarantee a release date or know when it will be live on a certain store. You will have to check stores on your end to see if it is live daily.
